  • 1 Violife Just Like Cheddar shreds
  • 2 oz Violife plant butter cold from the fridge, grated
  • 4 oz Violife Supreme Cream Cheese
  • 3.5 oz milk
  • 0.40 oz fresh chives finely chopped
  • 11 oz self raising flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 level tsp baking powder
  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºF.
  2. Grease a baking tray.
  3. Put the flour, chives, baking powder, salt and pepper in a large bowl and stir together.
  4. Add the butter into the mixture.
  5. Stir in 4.40 oz of Violife shreds and all of the cream cheese.
  6. Rubbing the mixture between your fingertips, work in the plant butter and cream cheese.
  7. Aim for a rough, crumbly mixture with some larger pieces of butter and cream cheese remaining.
  8. Stir in 4 oz of the milk to start bringing the mixture together into a soft dough that isn't sticky.
  9. Lightly knead the dough on a floured surface.
  10. Roll or pat into an approximate square 2.5 cm thick.
  11. Cut into 12 pieces using a round cutter and transfer them to the prepared baking tray.
  12. Brush the tops with some the remaining milk, then sprinkle over the reserved 0.80 oz of Violife shreds.
  13. Bake until risen and golden 15-20 minutes.
  14. Transfer to a wire rack to cool a little.
  15. Serve slightly warm, split and spread with plant butter or more Violife cream cheese.
